CHANGELING, the progressive death metal project led by Berlin guitarist Tom “Fountainhead” Geldschläger, have released a blindfolded studio playthrough of “World? What World?,” taken from the band’s 2025 debut album Changeling. Shot in studio, the video strips the track back to a single uninterrupted performance, with Fountainhead navigating the song’s shifting time signatures and tremolo-picked runs entirely by feel.

“World? What World?” is one of the album’s most punishing tracks, built on 260 bpm blast beats and a brass arrangement scored for an ensemble of Wagnerian tubas, and its lyrics stage a confrontation with fear and the unconscious mind, the fourth chapter in the album’s stage-by-stage psychedelic narrative. Losing the visual reference point of the fretboard turns the playthrough into a demonstration of muscle memory as much as musicianship, a fitting angle for a song built around the collapse of perceptual certainty.
Changeling was released April 25th, 2025 on Season of Mist. The ten-track, roughly hour-long album moves through four chapters, opening in tech-death vocabulary rooted in Fountainhead’s work on Obscura’s Akroasis and closing on “Anathema,” the near-seventeen-minute successor to his own “Weltseele.”
