More information about Heimferd

Copenhagen‑based producer Reidar Schæfer Olsen—known as DANHEIM—readies Heimferd, his newest full‑length album under Season of Mist. From its rune‑etched title to its resonant percussion and minimalist drones, Heimferd continues Danheim’s evolution through a Nordic sound world rooted in mythology and emotion, shaped by both visceral force and ambient restraint.

Rather than adhering to a strict mythological narrative, Heimferd unfolds as a mood-driven journey. From the storm-driven rhythms of “Stormdans” to the haunting expanse of “Yggdrasil II,” Olsen balances intensity with restraint, crafting a sonic ritual tied to both ancestral memory and modern resonance. Reflecting on the record’s essence, Olsen explains: “For me, Heimferd is a journey home, not to a physical place, but to my ancestry, honoring the weight of old paths while also forging new ones.

Heimferd will be released through Season of Mist in CD, vinyl, and digital formats. With more than one billion streams to date and a growing global following, Danheim’s latest work reinforces his standing as one of the defining voices in Viking-inspired folk music.
