More information about Epigrama
Lithuanian experimental metal band ERDVE announce the upcoming release of their third full-length album, Epigrama, a work that examines psychological erosion, regret and the irreversible consequences of choice. Emerging from Vilnius and active since 2016, the band established their foundation with Vaitojimas and intensified their sonic language on 2021’s Savigaila.
Vaitojimas & Savigaila are available now through Season of Mist.
Following a period of reflection and recalibration, Epigrama represents a deliberate new chapter that refines ERDVE’s approach to composition, atmosphere and conceptual cohesion.
Epigrama is structured around entropy as its philosophical backbone. Across eight tightly interwoven compositions, the album examines grief, guilt and stagnation as structural forces rather than fleeting emotions. Memory, regret and the weight of unresolved decisions accumulate throughout the record, shaping a landscape in which personal and moral foundations gradually erode. Within this framework, understanding does not necessarily bring resolution. Instead, clarity exposes the quiet inevitability of consequence.
Since signing to Season of Mist in 2017, ERDVE have developed a reputation for unconventional performances and concept-driven experimentation, including concerts staged in Vilnius’ St. John’s Church and the historic Lukiškės Prison. Their work has received sustained attention across international metal media. Germany’s Metal Hammer previously characterized the band’s sound as “a crushing and unpredictable take on modern extreme metal,” while outlets such as Echoes and Dust and Ave Noctum have noted the group’s ability to merge oppressive atmosphere with uncompromising heaviness.
With Epigrama, ERDVE refine this identity into their most conceptually focused and structurally deliberate work to date.
Epigrama will be out May 29th, via Season of Mist.
