More information about ÜL

Backed by their defiant new album, Mawiza continue to serve as a guiding force for indigenous metal. By integrating tribal rhythms and ancient instruments into modern groove metal, these modern day Mapuche warriors have won the respect of the Chilean Grammys and scene elders like Mercyful Fate, Mastodon, Slipknot and Gojira. Now, ÜL is winning them new fans all across the globe.

“…esto es un orgullo para el metal nacional”, writes Rockaxis, who featured Mawiza on the cover of their latest issue. “Sube la exigencia a la escena local, pero sobre todo pone una bandera y un precedente a nivel internacional, porque acá no hay duda que se volverá un clásico”.

“these up-and-comers feel fully formed and vital to listen to” Metal Hammer UK writes in a 4 star review.

“Swirling with ecological omens and existential questing, these songs kick open the door to the Mapuche’s world” Blabbermouth says about ÜL.

“Mawiza represent and honor their powerful Mapuche heritage, amplifying its relevant message of connection with our roots and the universe as a whole”, says Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier, who’s featured on ÜL‘s earthshaking finale “Ti Inan Paw-Pawkan”.  “And they do so with determination and in the most modern way, with heavy riffs and an openness to new ideas and to the world. A conversation between past, present and future. Don’t give up the fight!”.

ÜL is available now on  Season of Mist.
