Apocalyptic Steel is the ninth full-length from NARGAROTH, the sole creative vehicle of Rene “Ash” Wagner since the project’s formation in Saxony in 1996. The album comprises nine tracks across 39 minutes, spanning filthy, direct metal built in the tradition of old JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT, DEICIDE and OBITUARY: no pretence, no inflation.

The record’s origins reach back to September 2014, when the main tracking sessions took place over a single weekend at Trident Studios in Pacheco, California, with Mike Williams (Mummification) on guitar and bass, and Phil Cancilla (Malevolent Creation, Hank Williams III) on drums. Recorded back-to-back with what would become “Era of Threnody”, the material was left on a hard drive in the United States when the latter took priority. Years later the drive resurfaced, drums were re-recorded in Las Vegas, and vocals were laid down and the album completed at AMP Studios in Duisburg between February and April 2025, with engineer Jens Forster. Approximately twelve years after the original sessions, it is finally finished.

Apocalyptic Steel is out June 26th via Season of Mist: Underground Activists.
