No band believes in the powers of the devil’s lettuce quite like Dopelord. Since budding out of Poland in 2010, the band have led children of the haze down the left-hand path. On their 2012 debut album, they concocted a wickedly catchy spell of stoner doom. Magick Rites is blessed with all the raw ingredients that make Dopelord so devilishly charming. From the opening rip, the album rises from the ashes like a cloud of smoke. Ungodly heavy riffs bring the masses to their knees in service of “Lucifer’s Son”. More than a decade later, the band’s cultish following hasn’t stopped chanting its seductive chorus as a sign of their undying allegiance. “I gave you my soul”. Now back in print on Season of Mist, fuzz worshippers everywhere can once again experience their first communion with Dopelord.
