More information about Le sanglot

IMPURE WILHELMINA, the Geneva-based quartet whose sound sits between post-metal and progressive dark rock, today shares a full album stream of Le sanglot, their forthcoming album, due for release tomorrow, May 22nd, 2026. Running ten tracks over fifty minutes, the album marks the band’s most significant creative shift to date: all lyrics written and sung in French for the first time in the band’s three-decade history.

Conceived as the sonic equivalent of weeping, Le sanglot surveys a fractured world with surgical coldness, yet never forecloses on the possibility of grace. The record moves between crushing weight and melodic restraint, from the cathartic surge of opening track “Électricité noire” to the fragile radiance of closer “À jamais radieuse,” with the French language sharpening both the imagery and the emotional register throughout. The album also introduces guitarist Edouard Nicod, whose arrangements broaden the band’s textural scope, and features a collaboration with French artist Mütterlein on “Train mort,” the record’s most abrasive moment.

Le sanglot is out May 22nd, 2026 via Season of Mist.
