Franco-Spanish flamenco death metal torch-bearers IMPUREZA present “Reconquistar Al-Ándalus”: a militant and ceremonial march from their long-awaited concept album Alcázares. Blending percussive flamenco, death metal extremity, and historical fantasy, this single occupies a pivotal narrative moment in the album’s grand arc: the fall of Granada and the bloodstained ascension of the cross over the remnants of Islamic Iberia.

Driven by relentless double-kick rhythms and tremolo-picked fury, the track evokes the spiritual violence of the Reconquista’s final hour. Flamenco-inflected passages and orchestral accents frame a scene of brutal redemption, as crusading forces advance on the last bastion of Al-Andalus. Through the voice of Esteban Martín, the listener is cast into the role of a Christian zealot who welcomes death and sets ablaze the very memory of the Caliphate—commanding submission, invoking annihilation, and swearing dominion beneath the symbol of the cross.

A hymn of fire and faith, where the cross is thrust forward as a weapon of reckoning. Watch the lyric video for “Reconquistar Al-Ándalus” on the Season of Mist YouTube channel now: https://youtu.be/42TwalcvWfY

Praise for Impureza’s 2017 ‘La Caída de Tonatiuh’:

“Impureza are all in on flamenco. It’s not just a classical guitar break in every song with some maracas thrown in. Even when the band are doing death metal riffing, it’s in the style of Latin guitar.” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

“Sitting still will be impossible with these riffs playing; technical but catchy, bludgeoning but still easy enough to read, and incorporating oriental elements in the leads.” – Angry Metal Guy

“The musicians clearly all know what they’re doing on this release, from the impressive guitars, to the frolicking, wandering bass, to the sometimes jaw-dropping drums.” – Wonderbox Metal

“La Caída de Tonatiuh is an absolute blast to listen to, and I am happy to recommend it without reservation.” – Last Rites
