Even though its various mutations have been banging around inside their heads since previous long-player Phylogenesis, Abysmal Dawn’s first single since 2022 proved timely. While ruthlessly crushing, “Cradle of Affliction” nods to the band’s earlier melodic death metal influences like At The Gates with a killer chorus that begs to be screamed with horns raised to the rafters.   "This one is for Tomas (R.I.P.)”, says vocalist, guitarist and founding member Charles Elliott, “and all the fans who have continued to support Abysmal Dawn throughout our journey for more than two decades now".
