A four-piece from Clermont-Ferrand, UNTITLED WITH DRUMS have spent a decade refining a sound built on tightly coiled tension, atmospheric weight, and an instinct for the hook buried under the noise. Their 2020 debut Hollow drew wide praise from the specialist press and took them to the stages of Hellfest, Nuits de Fourviere, and London's Desertfest before they signed to Season of Mist.
"Matter" is their opening statement on the label, and it arrives with a clarity of intent that makes clear the band has not stood still. The track locks in on one of the less flattering corners of the human condition: that almost irrepressible need to be the centre of one's own world, to rank above, to dominate. The lyrics adopt a pathologically self-centered perspective and hold it there without flinching—a satirical portrait that implicates rather than judges. Musically, it channels that confrontational theme into something lean and deliberate: a riff that digs in, dynamics that know when to pull back, and a vocal delivery that carries the emotional stakes without overstating them. It is a track that earns its bluntness.
