Cynic has endured more than its fair share of ups and downs. The progressive metal pioneers have weathered hurricanes, teenage angst, homophobia and the tragic loss of their legendary rhythm section. But through it all, Paul Masvidal has stood as a trailblazer for the electric guitar. Today, he’s being recognized with an endorsement from Kiesel Guitars.

This year, Cynic celebrated the 30th anniversary of their landmark debut album. Interstellar shredder Paul Masvidal and his band of aliens played ‘Focus’ in all its mind-bending intensity, while also paying tribute to late drummer Sean Reinert and bassist Sean Malone, on a special headlining tour of North America.

CYNIC just wrapped up a special co-headlining tour of North America. Paul Masvidal and his band of cosmically gifted players celebrated the 30th anniversary of their debut album with help from their in-state buddies and fellow progressive music icons Atheist. So it’s no surprise to hear they put on a stellar show.

Progressive music icon CYNIC will be embarking on a Latin American headlining tour with support from tech death label-mate BEYOND CREATION. The journey will kick off on April 14 in Sao Paulo, BR and will then trek through 10 cities, concluding on April 27 in Mexico City, MX. The full run of dates can be found below while venues will be revealed at a later date.

Progressive music icon Cynic is pleased to announce two very special live performances set for 2023, for which the band will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of ‘Focus’ by performing the seminal album in its entirety! In addition, CYNIC will also be paying homage to late members Sean Reinert and Sean Malone as these are the band’s first live performances since the members’ passings. More anniversary and memorial tribute shows will be announced in the near future!

Prog legend CYNIC have just released a rare, never seen before live performance video of “King of Those Who Know” from their 2010 ‘Traced in Air’ tour in Mexico City at the EYESCREAM METALFEST II. The footage was lost until recently, when producer/animation director, Gabriel Raso sent the recovered footage to the band. The video is dedicated to the memory of drummer, Sean Reinert.
