NITE come from a long and storied line of heavy metal. The Bay Area gave birth to titans like Metallica. And while it’s not what most metalheads imagine when they go to their happy place, Northern California’s sunny climate did inspire Death to cross over into death metal.

When Horrendous started working on their fifth album, Philly’s filthiest and finest death metal band wanted to acknowledge the bombast of late ’80s and early ’90s heavy metal, while blazing a path forward into uncharted territory. They’ve hurled profanties and even their own feces at our Lord and Savior, not to mention other, more nefarious bodily fluids.

For more than two decades, THY CATAFALQUE was a studio-only project. That changed in 2021, when Tamás Kátai and a rotating cast of heavy hitters performed at the Fekete Zaj Festival, which was captured on the live album Mezolit.
